From Hive to Flame: A Deep Dive into Beeswax Candle Making

$50.00

Discover the magic of beeswax, from harvest to handcrafted candles. We’ll begin by exploring where beeswax comes from, how it’s harvested, and the process of cleaning it for use. Next, I’ll demonstrate various candle-making techniques, including molding and traditional hand-dipping.

Beyond the basics, we’ll dive into the finer details of candle making—wax temperature, wicking choices, vessels, and natural wax colors. I’ll also reveal the secrets behind why some pillar candles spill over or burn a hole down the center, and why some tapers drip while others burn cleanly.

Then, it’s your turn! Each participant will dip their own candles and leave with two pairs of ritual candles and two sets of classic taper candles—handmade and infused with the essence of tradition.

Talli Chaimovitz

For over 20 years, Talli has embraced homesteading as a way of life, using nature to create unique and wholesome products. She mastered the art of growing, wildcrafting, harvesting, and preparing plants for teas, tinctures, ointments, and soap—all while developing a deep love for bees. After years of beekeeping, she began incorporating beeswax into her products, eventually becoming a dedicated artisan of beeswax candles and soaps.

Her small-batch, cold-process soaps are made with high-quality plant oils, botanicals, and essential oils, their vibrant colours derived from natural herbs, clays, and flowers. Beeswax adds longevity to each bar. Her herbal salves, crafted with nourishing oils and organic botanicals, soothe and heal, with beeswax as a key ingredient.

Following a 4,000-year-old chandler tradition, each candle is hand-poured, dipped, and finished in her cozy studio, nestled at the forest’s edge in Combermere, overlooking the Mighty Madawaska River.
