Frequently Asked Questions
Can i bring my baby or small child to the Gathering, is there anything thing happening for children under 6?

Yes. We support you bringing a small child. They must be in the care and supervised by an adult at all times if they are under 5. We have a sensory exploration area this year.

No you do not have to bring skills to share. your presence and curiosity are enough, and you probably have more skills than you think, come explore what they might be. You are welcome to bring personal crafting projects and join an area where there is a free flow at one of the guilds. We encourage folks to bring their craft and find a way to plug in and enjoy the spirit of the Gathering. Perhaps you would like to sign up to share your passion at the demonstration station. Onsite offerings are pre approved by the organization for now. We welcome applications or interest in sharing next year in this way. Please get in touch.

Go to the Other Activities Page under the menu title 2025 Schedule and you will find a link to our Demonstration Sign Up Form. We will respond with confirmation by April 20th,2025.

Yes we have lots of space, field parking is included in the Base Camp Ticket and you are welcome to camp near your car but it is a little further away fro the happenings. Rv’s are welcome but we would appreciate knowing if you are bringing a bigger rig than a van.

We have had a bursary fund in the past. We now encourage folks to come volunteer with us. That being said if you would like to come to the gathering and funds are tight get in touch and we will see if there is something we can do to support you joining us.

Oh so many skills are active here onsite at Fulcrum! Beyond just the physical craft we place an emphasis on what may be considered soft skills as a wholistic approach we like to include all the parts of us, like communication, self reflective practices, support, community foundations, conversation & dialogue, etc.

Traditional skills are time-honoured, practical abilities that have been passed down through generations, often rooted in self-sufficiency, craftsmanship, and cultural heritage. These skills are typically hands-on and were essential for daily life before industrialization. Traditional is a bit different than Primitive Skills also which is a term used to describe earth based sometimes. Skills such as friction fire, natural pigments, tanning, etc all skills have different sets of parameters and this something we like to consider at Fulcrum as we live in these modern times. What does it mean to be practicing these “traditional skills” and where do they come from if they havent been passed down to us directly by our lineages. There are some really important conversations to have around the acknowledgment of where and who we learn from. Being mindful of these topics is a key consideration, we hope to inspire more conversation around these topics. Especially as so many people these days are looking to reconnect in these ways; having been distanced from them through generations of diasporic movement, genocide and processes of colonization around the globe which have shaped our current cultural contexts. We could go on…..

Please read our Dog Policy Page under the section The Gathering for more info.

Yes we use a humanure system here onsite for our bathroom, there is potable water to use, and we are in the process of building some simple outdoor solar bag showers.

Fulcrum takes place…..

We will get back to you on this one soon as we redo our menu plan for this year. No meal plan everyone eats together, supplement foods if you have strict dietary needs. There is no opting out of a meal plan. We make the gathering as affordable as possible for everyone. The food has been vegetarian for the most part, but we are looking into some good ways to add some meat options this year.
