We love making food together, serving food together & eating food together!

How does the kitchen work?

  • 8 Vegetarian Meals are provided over the weekend, breakfast, lunch & dinner with your Basecamp Ticket/Membership. (We are thinking of some meat options for this year)
 
  • Our Kitchen Staff are made up of:  kitchen co ordinator, teams of cooks, volunteer leads, and participant volunteers. We all look forward to exploring a new structure this year.
 
  • This year we are taking it back to the basics, sourcing the highest quality whole & organic  foods to make very simple dishes that remind us, life doesn’t have to be so complicated 😉
 
  • We will be providing the meal plan to everyone prior to the gathering to help you plan. 

What to bring.

  • Everyone is asked to bring a fruit to contribute to the kitchen. We love making giant fruit salads to serve with breakfast!
 
  • We do our best to provide gluten free options but If you have dietary restrictions please bring some foods to supplement your meals. Bring snacks.
 
  • If you would like to bring meat you are welcome to cook it over by the big fire, there is a key hole for this purpose with a grate
 
  • Please bring your own mess kit * bowl, plate, spoon, fork, cup, water bottle etc.
 

Are you getting hungry yet?

  • All of our food scrapes get fed to the chickens, rabbits & worms, turning them into super foods for the gardens.
 
  • We have a communal dish pit with hot water, soap and cloths where you can wash your dishes and drying racks.
 
  • Please let us know if you have any severe allergies prior to the gathering, we need to know. Thank you.
 
  •  This year we will have a continuous pot of gluten free Miso Soup available at all times. 

Kitchen Coordinators, Helpers & Volunteers!

Every year we try something new!  Even in the kitchen. This year we are looking to lighten the load for everyone.
We will be working in tag teams, where one team leads one meal and we alternate between meals!

* We are currently looking for more staff with skills to come play in the kitchen, if you or someone you know may be interested get in touch!

Back to the basics – Cooking with the Ancestors is our kitchen inspiration for this year.
