WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: 1/2 Day (Sat, Sun)
Comel learn how to skin, flesh and hand soften a small pelt. Squirrels have beautiful fur and make for a great intro to tanning. These squirrels have been donated by a neighbor. In this workshop you will be guided through the whole process of tanning while talking about different methods used in this skilled craft. By the end of the workshop you will have a greater understanding on how to assess “roadkill” and tend to it safely and a clearer understanding of what can be done with them. Options of bark tanning or oil/smoke tanning will be provided. There is an option to do a second squirrel time allowing. This is an intro- not an in-depth look into these tanning options.
Danielle loves tending to and transforming hides. She has been at it for a good while now and has had the good fortune of learning from many experienced practitioners. This craft has taken over her being and she feels very excited to share her passion with others.
