NATURE-BASED CEREMONY & RITUAL

NATURE-BASED CEREMONY & RITUAL

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: 2 Day (Sat, Sun 12hrs)

I invite you to join me on a journey of remembering nature-based ceremony and ritual. Since time immemorial, our land-based ancestors have engaged in regular rites and practices to maintain healthy relationship with the earth and spirit. We simply need to tune in to reclaim authentic ways of being in sacred space for personal, collective, and earth healing.

During this workshop, I will offer a series of invitations and journeys to help quiet your mind so you can open your body to attune with the land and spirit. You will spend time alone on the land to deepen into this. We will engage in cross-cultural practices for creating ceremony and ritual including: asking permission, offering gratitude, setting intentions, creating the container, energetic clearing, boundary work, surrendering to mystery, and ceremonial closing.

We will share with each other through Council Practice and invite in the collective wisdom of the group and your ancestors. We will hold sacred witness for one another as we engage in this tender work. We will laugh, sing, reflect, share, and dance our way back to intimate connection with spirit, each other, and the earth.

Our time together will involve:

  • Solo time on the land
  • Spirit journeying (i.e. dreaming)
  • Cultivating and being in sacred space
  • Authentic spiritual practice
  • Crafting sacred items
  • Singing and music
  • Personal & collective healing
  • Co-creating a community ritual

What to bring:

  • Items for the four elements (fist-sized stone, small jar of water, large feather, candle)
  • Sacred items that are significant to you
  • Drum or rattle if you have one
  • Offering items (i.e. tobacco, cedar, etc)
  • Dried plants and/or infused oils
  • Journal and writing utensils
  • Cushion, blanket, or chair

INSTRUCTOR BIO

Cadence Moffat McCann

Cadence is informed by 20 years of land-based facilitation and healing work with wide-ranging groups throughout Turtle Island (so-called Canada). As a queer settler of Celtic, Slavic, Germanic, and Haudenosaunee ancestry, she is dedicated to helping us remember who we are, why we’re here, and where we belong.

Her journey of remembrance began when she went traveling at the age of 18. She left behind everything that was familiar and stepped into the unknown. She connected with nature and spirit in ways she didn’t know was possible. Eighteen years later, she was called once again to step into a place of uncertainty. She went on a deep dive in the underworld of soul. For years, she journeyed in and out of wild nature and human realms, seeking her sacred purpose.

Each of those times was profound because they gave her clarity about her soul gifts of sharing her truth through words and song, connecting with ancestors and spirit by holding sacred space, and tending the edges of human and wild realms. Her work is an expression of this sacred purpose.

She is grateful to reside on the unceded lands of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Neutral Peoples (so-called Huron County). She recognizes the ongoing impact of settlers on the peoples and places of these lands. She is dedicated to supporting a process of decolonization through helping us remember how to be in right relationship with spirit, each other, and the earth.

Her background and experience includes all the people, places, and other-than-human ones she has learned from in her life. She has also worked and trained with: Animas Valley Institute, Red Moon Mystery School, Somatic Wilderness Therapy Institute, Nature Knows, and Music School of Life.
