In this workshop we will delve into the world of our ancestor’s early footwear from turn-shoes to moccasins. We will discuss concepts around cultural appropriation, appreciation and the historical phenomena of ‘cultural sharing’. This workshop provides participants with the tools and coaching to draft a foot pattern and make their very own buck skin center seam leather camp shoe based on an ubiquitous early design found across the globe. Note, the skins we will be working with are beautiful naturally tanned local deer skin, participants are also welcome to bring their own (soft) leather for a discounted workshop price.
